چکیده

Tim Berners-Lee and co-authors in their seminal paper “The Semantic Web”, published in 2001, outlined their vision about the future Semantic Web. But today we are still far from the implementation of this vision. Despite fundamental achievements, like definition of OWL (Web Ontology Language) and rapid progress of RDF/OWL content creation, storage and processing tools, there are still very few attempts to merge these isolated “islands of success” into a killer application, understandable and useful also outside the expert academic community. The primary intent of this paper is to integrate such still isolated results into the unified “Semantic Latvia” conception. The other intent is to propose solutions for the identified missing components in the three fields: 1) technology for gathering of information for the Semantic Web, 2) RDF data stores and efficient access to this information, 3) Semantic Web query tools based on MDA approach.

TOWARDS THE THEORY OF L-BORNOLOGICAL SPACES

The concept of an $L$-bornology is introduced and the theory of $L$-bornological spacesis being developed. In particular the lattice of all $L$-bornologies on a given set is studied and basic properties ofthe category of $L$-bornological spaces and bounded mappings are investigated.

Towards constructing an Integrative, Multi-Level Model for Cognition: The Function of Semantic Networks

Integrated approaches try to connect different constructs in different theories and reinterpret them using a common conceptual framework. In this research, using the concept of processing levels, an integrated, three-level model of the cognitive systems has been proposed and evaluated. Processing levels are divided into three categories of Feature-Oriented, Semantic and Conceptual Level based o...

Labour Migration, Neo-liberalism and Ethno-politics in the New Europe: The Case of Latvia

The accession of the new EU member states of Eastern Europe has highlighted ambivalence towards migration both within the older member states, but less frequently discussed, in the new. The former Soviet republic of Latvia serves as a case-study. Outward migration is a factor undermining social and economic progress, while generating pressures towards inward migration to meet labour shortages. ...

ON ALGEBRAIC AND COALGEBRAIC CATEGORIES OF VARIETY-BASED TOPOLOGICAL SYSTEMS

Motivated by the recent study on categorical properties of latticevalued topology, the paper considers a generalization of the notion of topological system introduced by S. Vickers, providing an algebraic and a coalgebraic category of the new structures. As a result, the nature of the category   TopSys   of S. Vickers gets clari ed, and a metatheorem is stated, claiming that (latticevalu...
